At least some of the current Onwa plotters have both 0183 & 2000 and have a built in AIS transceiver... just output to a cheap mutiplexer with WiFi on it and that may tick all your boxes
As far as I'm aware, my 708 is NMEA 0183 only.At least some of the current Onwa plotters have both 0183 & 2000 and have a built in AIS transceiver... just output to a cheap mutiplexer with WiFi on it and that may tick all your boxes

Oh of course one consideration if I went down the Axiom route, I wouldn't be able to buy cheap charts from Navionics, would I? That could be a sufficient extra cost. I've got a pretty large cruising area to cover.
Bit late for me given I got mine four years ago
Do you mean 'on a tablet'?Navionics charts are available for Axiom via a download to the SD card. However, they are expensive compared to Navionics Boating, around £150 to £200 per region, annual subscription. If being budget conscious, stick to Boating subscription on a plotter.
As far as I am aware you don't need a subscription for the plotter cards. I buy once, then update the next year a few days before the annual updates expires. Use for year 2. Buy update at start of year 3 - using RYA discount cost me £105 and will do me another couple of years. So not materially more than Boating on tablet.Navionics charts are available for Axiom via a download to the SD card. Yes. My mistake. However see dunedin's post No 28, apparently not that expensive.
