One of my Inspectors is a Diploma'd Electrical Engineer ..... Excellent on 3-phase etc. etc.

Give him a cable and get him to put a plug on - oh he knows how to do it alright and it will be done correctly - AFTER he's probably cut himself half dozen times stripping the wires !!!

Anytime we have electrical jobs to do ... we get tools and First Aid kit out !! I even bought him a good set of wire strippers .... no - out comes his trusty blade ... OUCH !


Onto "fixing things" ..... the usual one is ... I'll just give that nut a tweak tighter !!

Big ends torque = creak plus 4 flats
Cylinder head (old gasket) = 5 ft bar and eyes popping
Cylinder head (new gasket) = 5 ft bar, large veins on forehead, heart can be heard clearly.
Leaking compression joint - don't go there
