First hurricane possible for the Caribbean

Holes are great until you actually want to work on your keel. We were on stands.
Hurricane holes are great . . . for hurricane season” .

Fixed it for you.

On a serious note,
I am very to hear that your yacht fell over.
I trust that there isn’t too much damage and what (if any) is there is not too expensive or time consuming to make good.
Hope the mast just got hit and not damaged or crushed.

@Sea Change I've heard comms are down in Carriacou, but have you been able to get any further updates on your boat?

There's very little communication. A few people running Starlink units using cars as the power source. At the moment all efforts are on trying to check if anybody is missing or hurt. I've heard of two fatalities on the island, and somebody at the yard in need of urgent medical attention, but no details.

Yep. A lot of uncertainty about the people on boats in the Tyrrel Bay mangroves, one of which apparently caught fire and another flipped.

That is horrendous, on the video, the damage to houses is significant.

Those trees, are they lush with leaves which have been stripped by the wind, or are they a bit scraggy and bare anyway because of the heat>

This video shows the devastation including the fate of boats on the hardstands and in the mangroves in Carriacou.

Heartbreaking.

This guy is doing great work with his drone. Say what you like about YouTubers and influencers, he's out there on the ground liaising with police etc and providing by far the best footage of what's actually happened. Uploading it through a Starlink powered by other people's cars.
In the above video, most of the boats you see on the beach were essentially abandoned on their moorings already. It's no great surprise to see them wrecked. Two of them had already been on the beach for several years.
But I'm so sad for the state of the boats in the mangroves, especially the basin furthest. I guess there just isn't enough wind protection at that end, judging by the number of inverted cats and broken rigs.

Our own boat is visible in the video, screenshot attached. It shows that we've definitely fallen on the port side, quite possibly lying on top of our own mast, with unknown damage there. It does appear that the keel and rudder are still intact.

What amazes me is that the dinghy appears to still be on deck. I know it's only a dinghy but if it's survived, I'm going to start believing in miracles. I built it myself before we left and it's been the star of the show since we became liveaboards. I'm going to go back even if that's the only thing that's left.

Sorry to read that, I do hope that the damage is light.

So sad.

At least nothing has fallen on top of the boat. The damage may not be as great as you are anticipating given the sturdy construction and long keel design of your boat.
