Fastnet race start Delayed

I'm sure RORC have got their minds more on the '98 Sydney-Hobart than the '79 Fastnet in making this decision. Can't say I blame the RORC committee for wanting to avoid being sued in a six year court case as happened in Oz after '98. The CYC were accused of 'negligence' in not calling off or postponing the race in the light of the available forecasts. Blame 'compensation culture' lawyers, not RORC for this one.

During the 79 race one of the competing boats, taking a hiding as they all did, saw a smallish cruiser going from E to W or vice versa as they were rounding Fastnet Rock in awful conditions. Just thought it was worth a mention.
