The NOAA buoys suggested you lot has a good ride home, it looked like a beam reach of 10 knots going on 20?

Yes that would put me off too! All right for you lot from off the world to the east, those of us on the western edge had on the nose northerly for the first 12 mls. Great sailing after that though.

If Ken doesn't want it, I'm next on the list - it's a bit quick. Ken seemed to have a permanent grin on his face!

Spent most of the day in Le Skiff - big mistake to think I could keep up with these Emsworth boys! Crew took on the French national darts champion (seriously!) and when we tried to leave the patron started pouring us free beers. It was all too much for me as you probably deduced.

8.4 knots? We saw 10.2 at one stage - great sail back in perfect westerlies.

There wasn't really enough wind for us to get going properly, but as it picked up later we did hit a tide-assisted 10.8 knots south of St Caths...

All in all a superb sail - I think that goes down as our best crossing ever even if it was a couple of hours slower than last year /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

We had similiar speeds Thursday night. Funny old seas though, with the left-over slop and a following wind.

You couldnt have orderd better weather for the return passage .Bit hard on the nose until the tide turned then ease sheets and watch the miles quickly slip under the keel all the way on one tack.

A memorable weekend .

Emsworth boys are a fisherman, plumber, grp repair specialist and the wayward son of a preacher. Individually they are great company, but collectively they can drink a bar dry. Any bar. I made the mistake of thinking I had a fair bit of Emsworth in me.
