Tried to organise this last year, and we all managed to book the wrong weeks, so I thought we'd start planning earlier.

Plan: Get several mobos with young kids together, and go somewhere ineteresting for a week or two.

Likely suspects: Hagrid, us, Nick2/Joanne2, Alastair, anyone else based within striking distance of the Solent (as a start point) with kids between 4 and 14 (this is not fixed, but a useful starting point. No-one wants a single bored sulky teenager with a flock of 10 year olds).

Likely destinations: Channel Islands, West Country6, French coast

Likely dates: Late July/early Aug, but let's all agree it early, and make sure it doesn't clash with term time.

Graham,

I,m up for it. We have triplet boys aged 5, they will be six in August. Sounds a great idea, let me know when you have further details.

I might be around with kids 14 and 12. Nearly sulky but actually not at all sulky (the kids anyway). Eldest quite good as helm and PS2 expert scoring 6000000 points where i scored 30. Both expert in discussions of whether Mutu or Saha are worth 10 million, whereas no way henry is worth 70 million and arsenal should have sold him and blah blah etc etc. The yougest spent all his savings on Manchester United shares 15 months ago and is now deeply unpopular with me (cos i didn't)

Graham,

Sounds like a great idea - our girls are off school from 7th July until beginning September.

I think the first two weeks in August would suit us best as it gives them some time at home first then by the time they start getting boared we set off on hols and still have a couple of weeks to get ready for 'back to school'.

Would like to know asap when definately going to happen so that I can get holiday request in at work as I am sure will everyone else.

Do let me know if you need any help organising.

Re: set off 10th july?

i put this forward cos skool seems too break up around then, and it's not quite august and there's the option of going to france possibly for 14th july for boomy yeehah fireworks, or not if blowing a hoolie. I can recommend deauville as a possible candidate for loads of space, fab beach immediately adjacent for extended beach games organised by not me, shopping and lazing about.

Not sure how much organising it needs. Or maybe it needs loads and loads? - It must have taken ages to arrange all the MBM boats to go pop and bang at the right times to get fixed up again so they wd have lots of incidents to write about...

in any case, i may be trundling about around then. possibly.

Re: set off 10th july?

I think this was where we went wrong last time - our lot seem to break up a week after everyone else's kids. I think it must be the parole hearings or something that delay them.

As per Joanne's post, why not settle for 1st two weeks in Aug, or last week in July/1st in August? I'll check our term times and repost...

This is interesting......

Looks like I am going on MBM cruise to Paris and Joanne's going with you lot...

As ever we will no doubt have much discussion and SWMBO will be obeyed.

I take it you haven't invited me because you lost the water fight last year [sulks, and goes off in a huff]/forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Of course not, Col. You're always welcome, but we just assumed you wouldn't be able to carry enough spare props. Incidentally, there will be a rematch. And Hagrid assures me you will lose...

Re: ah well.

You're still welcome on the first bit, if we do July/August, but if Diana is in the SoF, won't you all get tired swimming to chase us?

Re: ah well.

tsk, it's a boat innit? and i am massively qualified for sea voyages. So, there's no prob in getting it to other places (especially if it's craned onto a truck or a ship ahem)

I plan to be off the french coast dieppe/le havre on 17th july.
