Increase your security
Become a Verified eBay member. Examine all privacy and security seals before doing business with a particular website and make sure they are legitimate.
eBay is a licensee of the
TRUSTe Privacy Program.

Protect your password
Never give away your password and always choose a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols.
For example, $coo!place2l!ve or 2Barry5Bonds#1. Avoid choosing obvious words or dates such as a nickname or your birth date.

Don't use the same password for eBay and other online services such as AOL, eBay, MSN, or Yahoo.
Using the same password for multiple websites increases the likelihood that someone could learn your password and gain access to your account.

'Or borrowed your eBay account to someone else....'

That narrows it down to a Yorkshireman...or is it Lancashire?

This is not from Ebay...Fake or otherwise. It is as one other has said a Phishing e-mail from a third party trying to trip you up into revealing your log on details by clicking as requested which will take you to their awaiting site and not E-bay.

You may receive similar from Barclaycard...Halifax...Paypal etc.

If you read your e-mail using outlook express and instead of opening these emails right click on the header and open them in straight text for you can see how they work and you will see that although it says click here for Ebay that the address you click on is some other which in HTML view is not visible.

don t click on links in these e-mails and even refrain from opening them in HTML view if possible!!

Had a virtually identical one relating to AOL: I had forgotten to re-enter card details for my account when a new card was issued. A polite reminder from AOL was followed within 10 minutes by a threatening one insisting the account would be terminated immediately unless I renewed my details by clicking 'here'

As the email did not have the AOL identifiers, we forwarded it to AOLs security centre. They never replied.
