Home Office Permission to Travel
Just got this:
Changes to Submit a Pleasure Craft Report Service

New: permission to travel checks

From Thursday, 18 April 2024, we introduced automated immigration checks known as permission to travel checks to this service. We will return a UPT response message showing you the outcome of the check, when you report an arrival to the UK from outside the Common Travel Area (CTA). The CTA includes travel between the UK, Ireland and Crown Dependencies.

Types of response messages and required actions

Permission to travel

For people with this outcome, you must verify they have a valid passport or travel document acceptable in the UK.

Document checks

For people with this outcome, you must verify they have the following:
  • a valid passport or travel document that is acceptable in the UK
  • a valid visa if they are from a country where a visa is always required
You can check who needs a visa on GOV.UK.

Submit a pleasure craft report engagement event

Due to high levels of interest, we will host a second event online on 2 May 2024 at 14:00-15:00 BST to explain how this change effects your reporting and provide further support about checking permission to travel.
Book your ticket on Eventbrite

Yep, was announced last month with a start date 2 weeks ago.

The bit hidden by the click to expand message is I think Do Not Board - it was pointed out on the call with clubs that this may be difficult if you were already en route and couldn't offload. There also seems a loop hole whereby if the Skipper gets a document check request, the skipper has to check their own documents and say they're fine.

We tried to use the updated system when leaving Amsterdam/Ijmuiden last week but it didn't work so we called Yachtline instead.
