Ensign Size

We need large ensigns when sailing within our country, or else we will be adressed in German by locks and marina staff........

Surely all you have to do is say: "Scheveningen".

Anyone would immediately know that you were not German and welcome you with open arms.

but don't forget, being less tightfisted, the Germans are occasionally the perferred choice as customers...

Of course they are.
But still, being in my native country I do not like to be adressed in German by the Lemmer Lockkeeper in or to be handed the Lelystad marina regs leaflet in German where I do fly a Dutch ensign of quite visible proportions.
Sounds like a joke..... but it really happened to me...hated it.
