My boat is coming up to 20 years old and it seems that all of the adhesive holding the insulation foam around my engine is giving up.Can you advise me on a suitable heat resistant replacement.
Tim

Tim, FYI Ipswich Plastics on the Ransome Rd Ind Est. do a thixofix equivalent....Apollo @ £22.00 for a 5l tin....as it smells the same as all the others (b---dy awful) I suspect it is an own branded product for a lot less. HTH

I used new insulation from ASAP supplies with their own spray adhesive BUT they also advised to use their large plastic 'washers' fixed with screws to make sure it didn't come detached - particularly on overhead surfaces. If you fit them in a regular order, where possible, it looks good.
ASAP on 0845 1300 870.
I fixed them with self tapping stainless steel screws from Screwfix.

I used their spray adhesive up-side-down in the engine compartment with no other fixings with very few problems.

Be very careful with your eyes though. I got some in mine even with safety goggles on and had problems for 2 years!
