Yes, I have been often.

In August, don't even think about getting a place for even one night in the ports of northern Corsica! I've even been away after I simply requested to fill up with water at St Florentin! You may be able to get on a buoy at Calvi, then chug in with the annexe. Elba is much the same - you can anchor but have little chance of getting in a marina.

Having said that, the anchorages are so much nicer than the marinas, so unless you need to get into port for reprovisioning it is not a big loss.

In September the situation improves. By October there is no problem at all.

We left our boat for 6 weeks through the height of the summer in 2000 in Solenzara in Eastern Corsica. There was no problem in finding a place in the water and the charge was very reasonable. We flew back on a charter flight from Bastia and travelled there from Solenzara on a Service Bus.

That, of course, was 4 years ago so things may well have changed.

You'll be lucky in August to find any marinas in either into which you can get.

I always anchor, off Porto Azzuro in Elba or, in Corse, in Porto Vecchio or off Charles Orsano marina Ajaccio .

Of all the marinas in Corsica the one in which you're most likely to find some room is Sollenzara but that's usually full by end June and only starts getting some free berths in mid-Sept.
