Can anyone advise on how I can test my echo sounder while the boat is laid up? Before lift out sounder was erratic but have removed debris from transducer - just want to check it out.
My sounder is mounted in a wooden block and stands 2inches proud of the bottom of the boat. I have a big waterbut, about 4ft 6inches deep, which I put on blocks under the boat and fill it up so the sounder is immersed in water and then I turn it on! A sounder has to be immersed in water to test it. If flush to hull I would attempt to stick a plastic bag to the hull, support the underneath and fill with water. I always think where there is a will there is a way! Good luck. Paul
