I'm on the boat in birdham pool freezing me parts off. I think the eberspacher has locked out as I have tried to start it too many times when the fuel pipe was blocked. Does anyone know of anyone in the area who could unlock it for me. Also any idea how much that would be?
Cheers

I assume you have completely switched it off. Check the local supply voltage is above 11volts. I had trouble with mine due to a bad domestic supply connection at the battery isolator.

I don't know about 'locked out' but I've had a couple D2 failures in similar situations; both needed expensive repairs as apparently you need to let them cool down for a while if you try to start them repeatedly (first was an enforced heater replacement from an Edinburgh dealer who I wouldn't recommend; second was a helpful Internet supplier of a new controller).

Have you tried starting with the engine running? Hopefully it's just a current/voltage problem.

I didn't think the D4 had the lockout feature - That was in the old compact models such as the D1LCc.

Once voltage is confirmed (as others have said), what exactly happens when you switch on?

Does the fan start and at what speed? Time it to see how long before it changes speed.

Does the fuel pump then start ticking (perhaps 60 seconds after fan starts)? If so then does the fan speed up after another 30 seconds.

Remember - In order for fan and fuel pump to start the internal system checks must have been successful. These include glow pin and flame fail sensor resistances. Let us know exactly what does and what does not happen and we'll go from there...

I will try him thanks. I've tried everything I can think of. All that happens now is that when is with on. The pump clicks once and then nothing. No fan, no clicking. Bugger all in fact

It sounds like the heater is failing at the initial check stage. Is the click definatly from the pump or from the ecu? If you had a lot of problems with the fuel/pump side then it is worth checking that side if the pump is iffy then the heater will fail at the initial check it will not get as far as turning the fan. Check if the pump is open or short circuit check the pump by clipping one lead to a battery terminal and tap tapping the other lead to the other terminal the pump should click as you tap and should pump fuel.

I did that with the pump and it seems fine when you put it to 12 volt. I can make it pump then if I click it off and on
