Ah but we could all be 5 mins away if we were happy to live in the middle of nowhere. Mull might be pretty (on a good summer day) but its hardly the big city. Or even the small one.

Mine is 30 miles away down the M4 as indeed is the capital.

Why would anybody WANT to live in a city?? Dirty, smelly, full of chavs etc. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It used to be 245 miles with a 5-6 hour drive incl ferry

so we moved-boat not house- and is now 42 miles and 50 minutes drive--much better!!

Great circle or rhumb line?

GC is about 2100km / 1300 mi

Best time about 8 hours doorstep to transom ( car to airport, flight / car to marina ).

Driving 2 days. 950 miles by road. 24 hour ferry and then another 50 miles on the road.

70 miles, 1.25 hrs.

A reasonable enough drive, starting on yellow roads, speeding up once we're on the long red one, gets more hectic as we slip onto the big blue road, then a timely descent past supermarkets, houses, fields, and industrial estates, until we grind to a halt 25 metres from the water.

Going home takes 15 mins longer, because we hit the chippie just before getting on the big blue road again.
