Route round M25 (Normally quickest) 140 miles

75 miles, give or take, Central London to Southampton. I let the train take the strain, though. About 1 hour and 20 on the quickest train from Waterloo and about 10 mins taxi at each end (as I get older, I can't bear the bit where you queue in the car to get from the centre of town to the M3 or A3).

When we could only sail weekends, it got boring, but now we can spend long weekens and even periods of 3 weeks out at a time. Don't notice the journey so much now.
