I have a 25 year old motor cruiser with one reconditioned (2 hours) and one original engine.

I want to bring her back from malta to the UK to sell her as I cant get anyone to view her in Malta. The intended route is Malta - Sicily - West coast of Italy - French Canals - English Channel.

I have an ICC but I could do with some company and help. I dont have CEVNI qualifications so these would be helpful for the trip through the French canals.

Someone with diesel Engineering experience would be useful as its a long trip for a motor cruiser and I know nothing about engines/mechanics.

the boat can be seen at www.favell.co.uk

Many thanks

Just a quick and belated thanks to all those who showed interest those years ago. Better late than never. :)

Alas I never made the voyage, she was sold in the end and the money used to fund medical school. Successfully on the other side of that aventure now.

Check her out though before she left for a new family. :(

Her name was Fizzwizz too. Gone but not forgotten.

Best wishes ... Fizz

she looks a beaut. how long did you have her for? what model?

We had her for about 18 months I believe, She is indeed an Italcraft Aermar FB. She was pretty quick when both engines were working (which wasn't very often). Back in the days when a lorry come to the marina with a long hose and would fill up your tanks for a couple of hundred quid. I'd hate to guess what she'd cost to fill up now.

My daughter took her first steps aboard, and my son fell into the engine room and broke his collar bone.

I always thought she was a bit of an ugly duckling but my wife loved her. I had wanted to buy a sailer but my wife was adamant she wanted a motor cruiser. I think I put her off in our previous 23 foot sloop by sailing hard off the Norfolk coast with a good heel. After that she would only come aboard if we went underway by motor alone. Sailing a sloop under engine alone got a bit dull so I gave in. :) We did love her though.

Yes those Italcraft like run a train in rails in many moderate seas.

Other innovative features of the 38 Aermar was that she had surface drives, with semi tunnels which helps performance not by little. This style of SDs was invented by Renato Sonny Levi first for commercial, competition use and Italcraft was the first world wide to use them in a production boat. It was a first use for two ideas which will be used much more in a later stage in production boat building.
One of the downfalls of this model I think was the wooden superstructure which if not looked after used to rotten.
Sadly an Italcraft 38 Aermar FB took fire a year ago here? Was it the same one. Is is a sad day when a classic like this is finished forever.

Hating a boat because someone due to his inattention fell in the engine room is IMO Wrong!

Who hates a boat because of that?
