Last weekend we went to the Folly Inn, and waited hours to order food, then decided it would take to long and moved to drinks queue which also took hours but did eventually get something!
So, SWMBOAAC wants to go to Cowes to look at some clothes shop but the big question is: Where is the best place to moor up to get into the middle of West Cowes?
Thanks

West Cowes Yacht Haven is OK if you DON'T moor on the outside, (if overnight) - bit too swelly. If you can't get inside and don't want 6 raggies rafting up on you without taking a single line ashore whilst you are at lunch, go up to East Cowes (you can pre book for weekends up till Wednesday) and catch a water taxi, which is pretty easy.

Cowes yacht haven. If you can get a space. Short walk and your in the heart of it. Eateries all over the place too.

OK, to hell with it. Unbolt it and we'll use it as an anchor!

Or walk to the chain ferry from East Cowes Marina, 10 min walk & free. I had a similar experience at the Folly & wont be back.

Re: Getting a space at cowes

Get swmbo to go down below and fill a saucepan and two buckets from the tap. Tell her that there's a leak from the main tank and you have to drain it off, and chuck the water overboard. Drive straight into cowes whislt swmbo obligingling chucks buckets of water overboard (there's no point in trying to explain the scam). HM will trot up and can't park here etc etc. Tellim you have a prob with rudderpost leak and need to fix bilge pump, and central engine is stopped, whilst swmbo chucks bucket of water attim. Then tell swmbo that she can go shopping. Go below and watch telly or whatever, perhaps leaving told around to make it look busy. Three hours later tell swmbo that you absolutely can't move the boat cos all there's a problem with the bilge pumps which all need bleeding and go ask the HM if you can stay the night. HM can't resist nice lady asking sweetly even tho talking complete rubbish and agrees.
