I am sure you could achieve the same with todays floating EBLs but I have not tried it.

One bit of advice I picked up from helicopter survival training; spot where the nearest emergency exit is - whenever getting onto any aircraft, boat or ship -, and if things are going pear-shaped put an arm out pointing to it in case one gets submerged or in the dark.
