Colvic 21 - with outboard?

I'm going to view a Colvic 21 which has an out-board. All the other Colvic's I've seen advertised have an inboard.
How common are out-board equipped Colvic's and should one expect to pay more or less for one compared to a similar model with an an in-board?

Not an original option afaik. I had a Colvin 20 for a few years.

Personally I like outboards for small yachts .modern outboards are reliable and can be easilly removed for maintenance.

Generally a yacht with a diesel inboard will sell for more money than one with an outboard.

A diesel in a small sail boat is not always the best idea. Weight and prop drag will slow it down and a large expense to fit compared to outboard. I would not have a problem buying a 21fter with o/b. However most sailors (you I imagine too) have strong ideas on the worth of a diesel i/b. It will make the boat more of a motor sailor and be more reliable in bashing against a head wind and sea or strong tide. This may be a priority whereas my priority might be windward sailing performance. So it becomes a personal choice. But most people would choose the diesel option if price was similar. But o/b version should be chaeper. olewill

Just to clarify, it's not a sailing boat. It is however fitted with a sailing rig but I think that was more to do with the owner belonging to a "sailing club" and so needed to have a sail boat in order to comply with the membership rules. It's the white one.



I've seen it now and unfortunately it was in such a state that the best use I could think of for it would have been to cut the top off, put the hull in the ground and keep fish in it.

I went to see the boat with a view to using it on the Thames so an OB would have been ideal. If it had originally been built with an IB and a prop it might explain where some of the water in the bilge was getting in.
