Closing uk marinas

Unfortunately Wales is still closed. The English can drive about England it would seem, the Welsh cant, and the N Wales police are out in force.

Can’t see that lasting long, pressure will start to be put on the Welsh Government, the border is too entwined between England and Wales for any difference to be practical.

I’m not too bothered anyway as I now have 4 weeks to do 3 months work.....

It was good of MDL to be so quick to issue guidance but I suspect most marinas will wait for the detailed document to be issued at 2pm today which I really hope will provide so clarity following the PM’s somewhat confused message last night.

It isn't going to endear any of the 4 nations to each other but I also think what Boris is doing in terms of "releasing" people is sensible. It is blindingly obvious that people especially in England where density is a far bigger issue than say Wales and Scotland, have been gradually breaking out so as to speak. It also seems reasonable to believe that being outside is a good thing for people and unlikely to be vastly more dangerous than never leaving the house providing people observe social distancing rules (the chance of getting in a car accident will no doubt increase). So now we have a chance to get out and be responsible, and this is a good thing although for sure there will be those, as there are now, who act like idiots, and even more certain that this is what we will read about and not the 99% of people who are sensible. Way too easy to criticise everyone all the time - not that anyone in this forum is but all I see increasingly from all corners of the political divide is criticism, and to that extent it is up to the regional devolved governments to decide what is best for their region and stop bleating about what Boris thinks is best for England. If the inhabitants of that region do not agree then I am sure they will properly express their views and likewise everyone in England should respect what that region decides is best for it.

From what I gather not all of Wales has reached the curve peak. Take Anglesey for instance. COVID has hardly touched it. IMO the Welsh govt are quite correct in maintaining the lockdown in relation to it's own outbreaks.

i don't think paradave is worried about the welsh police in wales, paradave said: Surely If we’re allowed to the boats, we can stay over on them?? sounds like dave is on the south coast.

I dont think so either, see we agree. You're not though, you're in the upper class ghetto to the East of the general slums. You're not going anywhere (y) Us local river folk though, we're not closed. We have extra special dispensation, probably on account the council is too tight to refund us our bucks like Pwllheli and CHT did ?

Why are MDL berthholders allowed back on boats from yesterday, I got an email at 8pm Sunday saying the Marina would be open to allow access for maintenance and Premier not allowing access.

Despite promising to open as soon as they could the chain of marinas which mine belongs to (not Premier) has been conspicuously silent on the matter since Sunday.

On a related note, the various harbour authorities that were quick to ban us don't seem to be moving with the same alacrity to lift their restrictions or disseminate the new government guidelines

That may be because the intended result is no change as far as going out on the boat is concerned.

I don't think marinas were ever required to close but the travel restrictions, quite correctly, kept people away.

Unless something contradicts what has published to date then I don't see anything in tomorrow's rules that prevent anyone visiting their boats.

While the decision to close marinas was a voluntary one,to keep the closure beyond today would be in my view a unilateral decision which would not be supported by the guidelines

I am beginning to wonder if it's because the marinas have furloughed staff and/or not brought in seasonal staff that they normally would have done, thus are somewhat dragging their feet to catch-up. Just a theory.......

On one of the other threads it was mentioned that MDL staff were very thin on the ground with the poster wondering just how much care of boats could have been taken with that level of resource.

According to the email sent previously mine should have re-started operations last week so the current silence is a little disappointing

The marina won't be able to reopen areas to the public until it fulfills the new Covid-19 Secure regulations. Which were only starting to appear on the website at 8pm last night.
