B&Q Brick Cleaner comes highly recommended. It's hydrochloric acid.
assume that would only be used when can be immediately sea discharged. ie not into the holding tank?

Thanks all . Unfortunately the pipe work is hidden and a sod to get at.B rick cleaner seems to be the answer but is it safe on GRP gelcoat if splashed as there is a lot of it in the area ?

Vyv, what do you call 'regularly'?
mine have been in 'regular' use for 16 year's, untreated!
I often use this, but in researching the spelling of the product I bought, it appears that it might be Nitric Acid. If this is the case, I'm glad I didn't leave any in when I came home! The acid is the way to go, most Europeans use this as it is freely available in any supermarket for about €1.00 a liter.

Yes, it is this that I'm concerned about as being Nitric Acid (Aqua Fortis) although this page implies it is HCl:Agua Fuerte in Spain - damn good stuff!
