Spring is coming in ... time to think about cleaning up the boats

I take the Quentin Crisp approach to cleaning. He said “after the first four years, the dirt doesn’t get any worse”.

Actually this may soon change as I’ve been forced to relocate from a lovely down to earth marina where anyone cleaning their boat would be viewed with deep suspicion, to a posh one full of gleaming gin palaces. Nightmare. I’m already feeling the pressure to get matching dock lines.

BUT - I bet you use your boat more than they do !!

Me too. I once saw a chap hoist his son up the mast armed with a cleaning solution and toothbrush because he hadn't cleaned up there for a while. Whatever floats your boat I suppose ..

Hi Nigel. Also cleaning time for me but only because season is over and boat is now in my home yard. Took about an hour and a half to get it home and parked then hours to get all the stuff out. I like to remove everything from cabin and clean it and stow for winter. 4 jibs in bags 2 spinnakers in bags 2 spin poles one whisker pole 5 buoyancy vests, 4 LJs, 2 bunk mattresses, gloves tools etc.
Perversely weather was glorious for short sail to boat ramp. But calendar says it is time. few small jobs to do on boat and then it will be back last weekend in September.
Best wishes for your health Nigel. We all hope you will be back on deck soon. ol'will
