Classic Speed Boat Restoration

Nice job on the refurb....but some important kit missing from the crew.....
L I F E J A C K E T S ?

I was waiting for someone to pick that up. To be fair, it was just going to be a float test and a quick engine run. As you can see, the bottom of the harbour was like a millpond on sunday, and i never ventured more than 500m from shore, plus if anyone knows the bottom of Portsmouth Harbour well, i could probably stand up in the little water that was there as it all dries. But I know this is no excuse. Appologies for the lack of life jackets. :(

SUPERB !!! inc sisters screams !! even refurbed boats sometimes break down so im deffinately on the L I F E J A C K E T side !!!!............. AGAIN CONGRATS TO ALL CONCERNED ON A GREAT JOB WELL DONE !!!

Well done, it looks fantastic, well worth the effort you put in. I'm very impressed with the performance, to get on the plane with any 18hp is great, but with a 40+ year old one is amazing.

what an inspiring thread, i read a lot of threads on the various boards here but few are as uplifting as this one

well done indeed, i am now motivated to try to tidy up my boats but it will never be to this standard

thanks for posting

WOW

I went working away 27/9/11 just after this thread started and this is the first time I've read it since. I am astounded at the progress you've made and the quality of workmanship. Absolutely gorgeous.:D:cool:

I've been away from this thread for a while too. Fantastic conclusion to the job - you have made quite a little classic there. Top stuff. I love the colours.

Someone mentioned above that your 'rude fast twin engine was made as a 25hp - I think you need only change the main carb jet to a bigger size to get the extra hp. Worth a look for some info on US forums where lots of old engine restorers hang out

Next time you launch (referring to your launch youtube) you want to get the trailer out of the salt water asap, not leave it sitting there. The wheel bearings just cant take the saltwater. Better still, see if you can launch without ever wetting the bearings

But wow yes what a fabulous rebuild. What's the next project gonna be? :D
