I've always admired their purposeful style and chunky build. Seem pretty strong and would still be being built today, I suspect, if certain RCD restrictions could be met. Don't think the cockpit is self draining - at rest anyway - but not sure. Seriously considered buying one a few years back but it had an engine that was too low powered for my taste.
There was a short review of them in MBM a while ago - try a search.
Oh, and welcome and Happy Christmas.

For its size there's no boat I'd rather be in when the going gets rough. Had mine for about 8 years and still miss it in many ways. It was a really great little boat and I had many happy days and weeks on board. Never let me down, easy to handle and maintain, a good turn of speed and excellent sea keeping.

In fact i see my old CI22 is now up for sale again!

Welcome N1kon. Like long john said a great little sea boat. I bought a tatty one and completely refitted her over 5 years. I also wish I still had Her. She,s berthed alongside my current boat and the new owner doesn,t use Her I clean Her more than he does! I THINK I can confidently say, ask me anything about these super little ships, especially the ones fitted with the single 140 Memaid although I have experience of the twin Volvo instalation + the BMW engined types. PBO MBM and MBY all did tests and reports, I,ve got copies if you can,t obtain any. Her indoors is bleating Xmas instructions at me so I,ll cut this short . I could rabbit on about Channel Island 22 all day! so POST THE QUESTIONS, this forum is amazing and sometimes we talk about boats! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Puzzled a bit, are you sure you have a 130 motor? Only know of one CI with a155, most are 14O if a big single is fitted. What year is the vessel,is the engine a Ford Mermaid? Even if you have a 130 don,t think "upgrading" to a 140 will be much improvement. What prop and what gearbox details can you furnish, more info please and I /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif can check my archives and memory bank!

I also had the 140 Mermaid Turbo4, great engine for the boat, max speed about 17kts, cruising about 12 - 14 ish. Have never heard of one with a 130, suspect that is wrong.

Hi there, I’m in the middle of trying to purchase a Channel Island 22 but with current restrictions will have to wait. I have tried to find & buy old editions of magazine reviews but there was no review in the version I bought online...Def got date per youtube video right. Would you be able to send me any copies you may have of reviews or general info to take a look through. For such a popular and well thought of boat I was surpirised not to find much on the internet in terms of detail. Thanks, Dan.

If you search on here (which can be difficult) there have been lots of threads about CI22s and more info than you’ll find in any review. I owned one for 9 years and loved it. Fabulous little boat.

Hi, that‘s fine but have had a pretty good look through the forum, found some general chat but I have no idea who is saying what and what experience they have really. Nice to get a proper review and may throw up some info i’ve not read already. It was your comment above..... “PBO MBM and MBY all did tests and reports, I,ve got copies if you can,t obtain any”. For some extra info as there is always a snippet you learn from each read. Cheers, Dan.
