Could anyone tell me how long you have to leave "SIKAFLEX 290 DECK CAULKING"
before you can paint over it,was going to use PUR-FLEX but you have to leave it 30 days and would like to get it done in the next two weeks.

290DC is ready for sanding after 7 days.
However prior to that, excess cured Sikaflex should be removed with a sharp knife or chisel (avoids exccessive pulling on the edges during sanding.)
They do not recommend the application of a finish to the exterior teak deck, but acknowledge that many boat owners prefer to apply a lacquer finish to the deck after sanding.
Tey say that great care should be taken as finishes contain solvents or plasticisers which can adversely affect the cured Sikaflex 290 DC or the drying time of the lacquer. If you are going to use lacquer:
1) wait at least 30 days before application of the finish
2) evaluate compatability of the lacquer on a small sample area of the deck first
3) rigid lacquers have a negative effect on the elasticity of the joint and might cause loss of adhesion of the Sikaflex 290 DC from the teak planks.

Hope this helps in some way.

Also I am thinking of repairing/replacing the caulk insome areas of my teak deck.
Any tips / advice resulting from your own endeavours?
