Canopy material

Can anyone suggest alternative canopy materials. The original is PU Acrylic and is very dense which makes sewing difficult. I was thinking of something like ripstop tent material etc but the choice on the market is confusing. Any suggestions?

Sounds like you must have a thick acrylic, a lighter weight acrylic would proabably solve your problem. It has to be a close weave material to have good waterproof qualities. Acrylic is the most commonly used material these days.

Ask your local sail maker. I got some material from them in the winter for making dodgers. With a 'Jeans' needle in the sewing machine I could sew through 4 layers no problem.
