Can you tell off the top of your head...

Be honest!

How many of those did you install or replace yourself?:)

all of course. I did keep the anchor wash, aircon in out and engines in the same place. All others are moved or new.

End result is that if I want with lifting two hatches on the cabins and a visit to the lazarette and e/r through the door there I can turn them all off in a couple of minutes - which I've never done tbh. Only anchor wash (not connected still) and air con are now off. All others are on.

MapisM, I may have to change my vote from dead certain to I’m not sure.
I thought I only had four but now I’m not sure that my raw water deck wash doesn’t come from the toilet inlet.
Also are we now counting bilge pumps? In that case what about engine exhaust?

Not sure about VP outdrives, but a neat feature of Merc Bravo is the fact that it's possible to insert not only a strainer, but also a T valve between the leg and the block, for an easy flushing with fresh water.

Would you sail with a skipper who didn't know?

I check each (other than the cockpit drains) every time I leave the boat.

16 I win (until you P. and the other 50ft plus guys come and double that!)
LOL, I didn't mean to start a context where whoever has more seacocks wins! :D

I was just curious to see if I'm alone in not having memorized the total number - which is something a boating mate told me everybody should do...
Then again, he has 10 of the things, which makes it easier to remember, I guess!
Regardless, I would have voted the second option if asked, but as it turned out, I should have voted the third, because I missed one while mentally counting them! :o
Btw, I actually meant under the w/l. If I should think of those above w/l, it's fair to say that I WOULD miss some, rather than MIGHT!

VP outdrives have a leading-edge intake which feeds an on-engine strainer. You don't have to use this - some installations use a through-hull pickup instead.

Or do your 'above waterline' fittings have seacocks?
Good point. My old lady didn't, but the DP does.
I don't think anyone ever exercised their valves through the whole boat life, though. And I'm not sure I will too, if I'm honest.
Whenever the sh!t would hit the fan badly enough to cause water ingress from above w/l fittings, I'd have other higher priority problems to deal with, well before closing those valves...!

my simple boat, 2 blakes seacocks for heads in & out, plus engine in.... 3

we replaced most of the seacock in my Dad's old Contest 46 before we sold it, some had already been done so not all, but gave me a chance to count them all up, number of genuine under the waterline seacocks, (not including 2 skin fittings just above the waterline.)......18

I'd rather not think about it because its scary to think that failure of just one of those seacocks could sink my boat
Well, I suppose that statistically it's more likely that one of your 96 engine valves breaks.
Not sure if this makes you feel better, but after all a wrecked engine is still better than the whole boat sunk, I reckon... :D :D :D

Do you not have a seacock for the shaft-seal?

14 below waterline

Engines x 2
Aircon x 2
Water maker
Generator
Black tank
toilets x 6
Salt water pump - anchor wash, sink etc
M, I apologize beforehand for pretending to know your boat, which I've never seen, better than yourself (!), also because I might as well be wrong!
But unless I'm confusing the F165 with some other boats, I believe you missed 3.
1) doesn't the genset have u/w outlet?
2) don't the BPM V-drives have sea water intakes for cooling?
Besides, one F165 I've seen had sea water cooled shaft seals, which would mean another couple of seacocks...
But IIRC they were retrofitted, original installation being with stern glands - so, if that's what you've got, I guess you're correct in not having included them?

PS: didn't you possibly miss also the crew toilet? Or does your boat have the layout with just one bathroom for the two guest cabins?
