Are we being ripped off ?
907 under 3kg gas €44 .
10 kg gas including deposit for the bottle of € 35 , cost €50
Three time the amount of gas for less then one refil of camping gas.

Nothing new there except the price increase like almost everything else.
Campingaz refills have always been expensive
The last refills I bought were in the summer and were £36. But not surprised if the price has since risen.

The refill kits allowing a 907 to be refilled from a larger cylinder look increasingly attractive.

£40 earlier this year. Seems a lot.
I’ve bought a single IKEA induction hob for £45 to use at home during building work but will use it on the boat next year when on shore power. Apparently the double hobs fit nicely on top of a gas cooker.

You're paying for the packaging and convenient distribution of small cylinders, more than for the gas. if you can use bigger ones...

Go for it vic.

It is not rocket science or brain surgery is it.

It is just tranfering a compressed liquid gas from one container to another.

Done outside in a well ventilated area with the right kit and technique it will be safe enough.

As hundreds have found out by carrying out the process on a regular basis.

I filled two 970 a couple of months back with butane no problem, filled nicely.
907 bottles last us about 3 weeks.

The other day I needed to fill three bottles but could only get get propane.
I was having problems filling until someone here suggested getting the donate bottle warner then the receiving bottle , a few hours in the sun seen to work wonders.

Propane works great on our cooker , another advantage.

I have just picked up my old Doblo from its MOT test. On the way back we passed a Calor tanker filling a domestic tank at a pub.

The system used is little different to filling a smaller bottle from a larger one.

And this was being done on the public highway!

Some of the most spectacular rocket failures are precisely when that goes wrong! (FWIW if I used enough gas to justify it I would refill myself).

76 year old chap in our village, still does odd jobs. Known to all. When he was in early teens, working at the village garage he used to fill the local's gas bottles nearly every day.
One of his other jobs used to be driving the land rover to pull cars out of the mud when they got stuck launching boats. At 13 years old. Nobody queried him driving on the public road.
Yup.! Pulled me out as well-, when I was 12, launching my dad's silhouette, in his absence:rolleyes:
People just got on with it & did things in those days. Now we sit about wondering if we should be allowed :(

Yea people spend more time worrying about what they allow to do and what they can't .

And ok if you got a pea for a brain and decanter gas while you got a fag hanging out you mouth you could go up with a bang but the same can happen while filling a gas light.
But out side in the open air you be fine.

Question.. How many 2litre bottles could you fill from a 4 litre bottle.. Ie is there any waste..? Still £7 here in Turkey for a 2 litre refill... But getting harder to find places to do it
