It is a Covid precaution, they simply do not have the resources to sterilize the showers after every use, just stay mucky and trot around to the Ardshiel and look in awe at their world beating display of malt whiskies, one of Scotlands great pubs, the food is good too.

Contagion from touching surfaces has been pretty much ruled out by the boffins and if there's residual concern put a bottle of hand sanitiser in there and ask people to be sensible.

RYA Scotland advice seems to be that showers "should" not be used. When pressed, they apparently admit that they actually mean "must" not be used.

One of the problems highlighted during the pandemic has been the provision of vague advice. That may me almost inevitable - if undesirable - at government level but is next to useless at user level where people need to know "Yes, it's allowed" or "No, it's prohibited". Telling a user what "should", "could" or "might" be done is about as helpful as saying "make up your own mind" and leads to inconsistencies between different groups in essentially identical situations.

So all this hand washing and sanitising is unecessary, someone shoud tell the supermarkets?
Campbeltown lost a very popular local paramedic to Covid last year, the have a right to be sensitive to the risk.

Craobh’s showers are available. They have always had a frequent cleaning service. They were closed and every second stall as well.

Blimey thats a coincidence. Campbeltown is such an out of the way place I didnt think anyone on here had heard of it! We were only up there last Fri/Sat meeting the parents of our son's long term girlfriend who live there. Had a lovely round of golf at the stunning Machrihanish and an excellent dinner at No 42. Just a shame its 500+ miles from our house

Sorry, I did see the marina but I can't report on the showers. I was surprised at just how few boats were out and about. In fact we only saw one yacht and no mobos out during our 3 days in the area

We did see a boat locking into the Crinan Canal. Do locals use that much? How much does it cost? I've visited the west of Scotland many times before but I'm always blown away by how lovely the cruising area is. Now if only somebody could fix the weather:D

The showers at my local sailing club are out of use because it is judged there is insufficient ventilation rather than difficulty of arranging regular cleaning. Covid “droplets” could easily linger.
