Just as a clue,my Raymarine plotter relied on a little dome aerial to provide the information it needed to sort a fix.The signal was OK,then intermittent and finally would not give one at all.It needed a new gps antenna and my old style one was of course obsolete and a new one just stupid money(£250).
Bought one of these and solved problem.

It a common fault and is due to some non replaceable button cell inside unit crapping out. After attacking the old unit with weeny grinder located alleged battery and replaced it but still did not work.
Ps.Dead easy to fit comes with all instructions and basically involves connecting pos and neg plus one data wire or may two![]()

The one thing that worries me about the Ebay advert is that it says the GPS has "Magnetic Declination Compensation" - which as far as I know has nothing whatsoever to do with a GPS receiver.
