Buried in the budget there is a line that HMRC will equalise the different tax benefits given to Biofuel by 2010
Does that mean that in 2010 Biofuel will attract the 58ppl tax? And or do you think that this means the 2500 litres you can make you can make per year without tax will be dropped??
Just convinced my better half that home brewed bio was they way forward with a payback of two years /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Also buried in the budget it sayeth:

[ QUOTE ]
A.92 Following a pilot project for using biodiesel in rail, the duty payable for biofuels off
road will be 9.69 pence per litre from 1 April 2008. (34)

[/ QUOTE ]

So I think it's quite clear - on-road biofuel duty going up - you shall not drive your motor car, but off road looking quite good, until they realise their gaff and change it to "off road except for flashy pleasure motor yachts owned by the rich gits that fund our socialist heaven".

I would expect IoM to match the UK - they have a reciprocal agreement to that effect, although the IoM can unilaterally pull out of it if they wish I think. The noise here earlier in the year was that this would affect IoM marine fuel.

This is interesting

10. On and after 1 April 2008, a new rebated rate of duty will be introduced on biodiesel and bioblend used other than as fuel for road vehicles. On and after 1 October 2008, this rate will be increased by the same percentage as main road fuels. The existing repayment mechanism in relation to the use of unblended biodiesel in off-road applications will come to an end. In the case of bioblend produced with kerosene for heating use, a nil rate of duty will have effect.

Something wrong here - the EU say it is illegal to charge different rates of tax for the same fuel - isnt that why we lost the right to red diesel. So how can bio diesel be cheaper for marine use but not road use??????????
