I recently enquired about liveaboard insurance for my british wooden naval boat we inhabit in France
I was quoted between £700 and £1000 per year even though i was living aboard to safeguard the boat at least 50% of the time!
I spoke to a French insurer and got a quote for "liveaboard insurance" (probably because they believe liveaboards actually participate in the society not like the UK way of thinking) and was quoted 340 euros, £200, including 30 days a year cruising which is more than most people need anyway.
So here i am paying less than £20 per months to insure my abode, less than i pay to insure my personal possession insurance!!

If you're interested the company is called Amelle Cammas

My experience of French insurers (never insured a yacht) is that they do all they can to avoid paying a claim. Trust yours is different.

it's hard enough trying to settle a dispute with a reluctant insurance company when you speak the language. are you confident you could handle a dispute with a french company?

point taken re language problems - i spent twleve minutes trying to make the securite sociale office understand a string of thirteen numbers this afternoon!!
seriously though, you can find good translators anywhere, and if i had to pay, it would come to much less than i've saved this year alone
