Sunday found me sitting in a pleasant simple cafè drinking est est est,i almost ordered lunch when i remembered i had no money!Thats nothing new in itself,but the bar bill had to be met!It would be possible to ask them to write it down & pay later,fortunately i found 16.42€
That crisis past i began to think,if i stayed hear i might be seen and wouldn't be able to leave as the others will anchor in the bay and id have to pass them.I decided to say that id gone,that i might be out of phone contact and i had some work ashore until the weekend!
Perfect!I was to stay with s-- that evening until wensday when im to see Valerie my dentist,Stell will, i thought arrive tuseday evening or wensday morning i would retern the next weekend when my "work" was done!I set sail thinking how chilly it was.Perhaps its better to stay in Toulon where it feels warmer?
I arrived at the bay where i could tie up to a key (without charge)To my total amazement i was asked by the police for my papers.I gave my passport they looked in the cabin asked where id come from?How many aboard?Just one.Then they asked for the boats papers!!!
I gave my folkboat paper as i havent regisered this boat yet haveing only the old French document which isent yet canceled and no longer valid or in my name!Worse they checked the boats name,in large letters is writen "ma petit chou""TL" the number had long gone.
The name on the paper i gave is "astrix",i said i hadent changed the name as yet, fortunately he was in a good mood gave back my papers wishing me a pleasant stay!Normally i only ever show the papers in the capitanerie and provideing the boat more or less corresponds to the size declared all is well.
Is it really necassary to have valid papers??Wouldent a simple bill of sale do??Or an old registration??Dose it really matter if its expired?When the FB registration expires i only have to send it back with a postal order for £5??They then send the same platicised paper back only with a new date,all the other info stays the same? when i had blue book reg that was valid for ever!!Do we really need a valid registration?Or will an expired document do as long as the details are correct??
I got my bike off and went to meet s-- as soon as we were away from the village we held hands life was plesent the house was warmer than the boat!The next day being Monday is washing day.As she had bought my new things she said they would need washing i have 2 pairs of work trousers 2 pairs jeans four tea shirts and two pullovers!My entire wadrobe
That night i went back and got my things she put the wash on(comenting that she might not get the tea towle clean & what ever did i do with it?)while i did the cooking.
Happy warm & content!I made a simple quick supper an advacardo scooped out mixed with egg the spooned back into the shells ideal for the over ripe ones we normaly get for free when a markets over!Then i took a simple white fish it happend to be lotte which needs a sauce,
I cut the fish into 2cm slices dipped them in salt pepper and paprica mix then fried them in a little butter useing a non stick pan that hasent been overheated.I put them in the warm oven to keep warm.For the sause i squezzed two grapefruits poured the duice in the pan to reduce it then added a drop of cointreau stired again then added double cream.When we were ready i poured the hot sauce over the warm fish and then a handful of frizzy salad,it was very good
For dessert i made chocolate moose! We dident drink much as just being together was intoxicateing we went to rest!Later i though how wonderful life was!Though winter in the med could be a bit warmer!The temprature hovering around the 10 to 12 degree marks is a bit chilly
Hear were were warm comfortable well fed and blisfully happy!The world at its best even for those who face a daily economic challenge,who needs money!
We heard a key turn in the front door!Apart from her children who would have given notice if they were comeing only two people have a key here husband & her mother in law at 11pm it seemed unlikely to be her!I decided not to wait to find who it was instead i grabed a dressing gown and jumped out of the window.Being a bungalow it was a short drop to the ground
When i got through the hedge i realised i was in a bit of a spot!Thankfully id washed the dishes otherwise s-- would have had some explaining to do.My cloths wouldent be found at least not by here husband which was my predicament!
I went back to the boat getting some very odd looks from the few people i passed by the time i got aboard i was frozen,i got the heating going eventually,as i sat shivering i wondered what i could do?When i warmed up i decided it would be better to be at anchor that done i waited for morning
I sat below with my bins watching for s-- eventually i saw her she left something in the place we used,i rowed accross,it was only a note to say my cloths hadent been found and are in the garden shed that was all!!
I rowed hard on the way back to get warm.Haveing known s-- since we were at school i knew that that was that!If i wanted my cloths back i would have to fetch them!That would meen walking back there in a thin silk dressing gown that was very femanin!Then when i got there i would have to push through a hedge which would get the dog barking and me shot!
With a choise of Stellas cotten skirt tied with a rope this time, or a female dressing gown or both i dont know what to do??If i call valerie how would i explane looseing my entier wardrobe??And where would i have got the dressing gown from?If i call Stella how could i explain loosing my trousers for a second time!!
For once i dont know what to do??Even my jackets at s-- s even if sailed into the main town i couldent buy more trousers becouse i havent got any money!If i ask Stella to leave my visa card under a rock she may wonder why!!
If i ask valerie to lend me some money how can i get it??Help what would you do??Whant can i say or do?
