I need some info on a mercury 350 outboard,
I just aquired from a yard sale and need to know if the fuel takes 2 cycle oil or not
any info is deeply appreciated

Ooh heck that is an oldie. Must be perhaps 1967 or prior. You definitely need to mix oil into the fuel in 50:1 ratio. Ideally, use mercury's own Quicksilver brand oil, though other marine 2 strokes will be ok.

I suggest also change the oil in the lower gearbox before using the motor. There's a drain plug right at the bottom (big flat blade screwdriver needed) and a vent plug higher up, roughly level with top of prop (usually "vent" is written in the casting). Remove both, drain, and refill oil from bottom till it comes out of the top vent. The old oil should be black ish - if it is mayonnaise cream there is emulsified water in there which means the seals are gone

This is a pretty ancient machine though well built and durable. spares might be difficult now. there are plenty of US boards dealing with old mercs eg www.oldmercs.com
