Re. car manufacturers in British hands, I would have rather thought of Ariel.

Bristol have probably sold no more than 4 or 5 a year even in their hey days of the 60's/70's. To my knowledge they are in admin, although their 1 showroom in London is still in operation.

There are a number of smaller british manufacturers still in UK ownership, including Ariel. Autocar has just done a Best of British article in the 29 Aug edition if you need an update.

Worth noting that both Caterham and Westfield are now owned by Malaysians. Not that I have anything against Malaysians, they are the happiest race I have ever met!

I walked past the Bristol showroom in South Ken last week and they still seemed to be available - about 4 in the showroom. Maybe they were 2nd hand, I dunno. I've never partic liked Bristol cars anyway

I like Lochin=JCB I'm not sure I agree RR Vogue = Aquastar, MapisM. I've come across some poor things re the build of the AqSt 80. It's lucky for Aquastar that Gludy didn't buy it

that's a shame to hear that, certainly Aqua Star have not built their name up on dodgy quality. Do quite like the idea of an old AquaStar 33.

..although Guldy will find fault with most boats and their builders

It was. I sold it in July this year and have ordered another, due March 2013
