What would a rolls royce be then
Grand Banks.

I find these comparisons really entartaining.

Let's assume that Rolls is the top among cars and GB among boats.
Incidentally, I wholeheartedly disagree. If you would have said Royal Huisman, rather than GB, then we could talk. But that's another story.
What is funny is that these comparisons seem to imply that the "absolute value" of engineering, design, R&D, testing, etc. - whatever goes into the production of boats and cars - is comparable. E.g., Rolls manufacturing=GB manufacturing.
But in real world, anyone who knows even just a little bit of car and boat industry knows that if we should put on the same absolute scale car and boat builders, probably the best boat builder around could (just) compare with the worst korean car maker.
Skoda would already be way off the scale, even if compared to RH... :)

All tongue-in-cheek I know, but what is quite interesting is how peoples peceive different boat builders.

I must say that there are so many variables, my Fairline Targa 34 was a good boat, the hull seemed really strong. I loved the styling. Its performance and sea keeping was good.

My Sealine by comparison; excellent use of space available, very comfortable and although the build quality does not seem quite as good as FL, its not that far short IMHO. Great sea keeping boat, I am sure others with different models may have different views!

What is good is that people who are looking can get good advice from actual boat owners on this Forum, its certainly helped me with my selections in the past....

I now I'm a Sealine knocker but the F43 is a great boat - Sealine at their finest. From a space perspective, compare an S41 and a Targa 40 and there is no comparison - the Sealine is like a Tardis).

Fairline = BMW
Princess = Mercedes
Sessa = Dacia/Citreon
Cranchi = Fiat
Azimut = Alfa Romeo

If I look east and really squint, I think I can see the steam coming out of Poweryachts ears! :D
I suppose it's going to depend on which country you come from but to an Italian, I guess Fairline/Princess is Ford/Vauxhall and Sealine is Rover:)

Naah, it's much simpler than that.
To an Italian, any UK boat is simply something worth considering when the GBP is weak - i.e. not now. :)

Maybe you've forgotten but there was a time when the GBP was worth €1.65 and when the Brits thought everything in Europe was cheap:) At €1.26 now, I would say that the GBP is still very weak and we are still the poor man of Europe

Lets try Broom = Bristol? Quaint and old fashioned, handbuilt and much bespoke, owners are very faithful and keep returning. Not the best performance, but will look after the owner.
And Bristol went bust so thats analagous with Broom as well (OK I know Broom didnt go bust, lets just say they lay dormant for a couple of years)

I walked past the Bristol showroom in South Ken last week and they still seemed to be available - about 4 in the showroom. Maybe they were 2nd hand, I dunno. I've never partic liked Bristol cars anyway :)

I like Lochin=JCB :D :D I'm not sure I agree RR Vogue = Aquastar, MapisM. I've come across some poor things re the build of the AqSt 80. It's lucky for Aquastar that Gludy didn't buy it :)

......only luxury car manufacturer that remains in private British hands....

And boy-o-boy, do you pay for that privilege!

Mind you, although the older versions looked quite ugly, they did seem to last = Sealine F43

Bristol went into Admin I think last year. They still have some saleable assets, and I'm sure will be resurected at some point in the future. For some reason they have a very loyal following amongst some folk who like overweight, poorly styled and finished, expensive dinosaurs.

A friend of mine had a Bristol and he was always droning on about the spare wheel being located in the front wing and how brilliant that was. But he was from Rochdale so that probably explains it. I thought it was pig ugly and drove like a tractor myself
