JFM, surely under OB rules, the AWO (AnchorWasherOffer) should be female and not wearing a thong (for health and safety reasons only so that no lose item of bikini ware can get caught up in the windlass).

LOL, I hope you don't mean you are wearing the thong Jimmy. yes arrived yesterday, we are just decompressing in the the hills at the moment. Will surface later. I have a charter boat tentatively arranged later this week/may be Monday , got to confirm tomorrow in person as Winner aren't responsive. Won't be heading as far as Corsica , more likely between the islands. Will let you know our lat n long and bar inventory!
 
The best anchoring gadget we've ever bought is a "Twist"
Agreed, I've had a Twist on my last 2 boats and it works v well with one proviso. At least on my current boat (which has a bigger anchor than originally fitted), you have to be a little careful winding the Twist into the bow roller as the sudden twisting action of the anchor can cause the anchor to clout the hull. Fortunately I've got a bashplate under the bow roller but some boats don't
 
Anthony I'm not sure what is normal here but I've always had last-resort manual shut offs at the tank on all my boats, plus electric valves closer to the engines (hooked up to the SeaFire installation). I thought the manual vlaves were a CE requirement as well as a RINA item, but happy to be corrected on that. The manual vlaves are definitely an MCA (yellow book and mgn280) rerquirement at least on this sized boat.

I'll get you some pics of the electrical switching!

Matchdoes have (fresh water - I dont want a saltwater system) wash at the anchor butit is a handheld curly hose inside the anchor locker lid with a trigger gunnozzle on the end. You can squirt it atthe anchor (but I don't), wash the salt off the chain inside the locker, andwash the whole fordeck after hauling in dirty Med groundlines (that last one isa big deal). I deliberstely did not specone of those so called automatic washers that spurts water onto the anchor asit is wound. They are pretty ineffectivein my book at clearing weed/mud balls off the anchor, compared with dunking asper my video above

We have such a salt water anker shower, and actually ours works quite well for clearing mud and weed, while very little salt water spray remains of the deck. (anker shower outlet is placed in a good position; just above the roller where the chain goes down vertically, all rinsing water drops in the sea
BUT
the second half length of our chain is completely covered with white saltpowder. (salt water drying in the chain locker)

Last year,after having seen MapisM method of rinsing the chain with fresh water, while she goes in the locker, and his chain looking as new,
- this season we started using the fresh watershower in addition to the saltwater (one of the guests tascs ;-) )

Considered to install this fixed, but agree that a flexible hose is much better, as one has to rinse the deck and the winch anyway.

I agree that a shiny SS chain is very nice to have, but I can’t convince myself to replace and waste the 100m 12mm galvanized steel chain by something new.
Especially not after having seen in how good condition the one from MapisM is.
Hope to get a similar result after a while doing that extra rinsing.

I have just got delivery (not yet installed) of a Douglas Marine “Chain boy” such a SS ball to be placed in the anker locker, just under the deck hole, to avoid stacking the chain on one pile, and obstructing the opening. lets see how this works...

I LOVE the ideaof the AnCam. Already since first talks about this idea on here, I considered to fit one on my boat, and fully agree on the advantages mentioned on here.

No arguments about colors nor shapes (square windows and white caulking fe J) don't want discussions about taste… ;-)

I’m convinced that you’ve got yourselve a dream machine, equipped until the last technical detail / gadget, that you and her future successive owners will enjoy spending time on, and playing with.

I wish you many happy hours and miles on this magnificent vessel.
 
Thanks Bart for those thoughts. Yep, I like to clean the chain in the anchor locker just by squirting lots of freshwater on the pile of chain, to get rid of the salt.

I hope we meet up for a bottle of wine later in the summer. We have lots of ideas to compare :D. I have not seen BA since before the transom door/swim platform refit!

Till then, have a great non-rolling time over the next few weeks on your fine ship

Yup, agreed.
'course SS is nice to look at and easier to clean, but whether that alone is worth the much higher cost or not, pretty much depends on individual priorities/budgets.

Just for the records, the pump I previously mentioned is for the salt water "anchor fountain", as jfm called it.
Which in my experience - and in yours, as I understand - does work effectively.
The additional fresh water rinsing (which I didn't even mention so far) is something I also handle with a multi-purpose shower hose, but by the time the chain is rinsed, it has already been cleaned automatically by the salt water high pressure flush.
Theorically, life could be made easier by feeding the "anchor fountain" pump from the fresh water tank, but the waste of fresh water would be very substantial - I for one wouldn't bother.

Please excuse a geeky question, but I was wondering what the dimensions of the main fuel tanks on Match 2 are? They seem to take up about 1/30th of the length of the boat, which puts them at less than 100mm thick (bow-stern).

EDIT: My maths is out by a factor of 10, should be 1000mm Not that it matters :)

Alternately, to hold 6,000L, they need to be 6 cu m in internal volume, so 3m x 2m x 1m. I would estimate they are about 4.5m wide and maybe 2m high, which would make them 666mm deep...

Is this too geeky, or too much math for a sunny Friday?

Ooer, yes that's too hard for a friday! I've never measured them. The main tanks (athwartships, across front of e/room) 5900 litres are about 5.4m wide (across the pair), 1.6m high and 800mm thick, and the extra tank at 1500 litres is a complex shape but must be 1.5m wide becuase it fits under a double bed. I do have plans and sketches for another 1000 litres in a telephone box shaped tank at the port end of where I have the bath, and then the bath would be replaced by a shower, but decided not to go for this. It would be slightly off centre, as plan drawing below shows. Also Fairline built one sq78 a couple of years ago for a customer in Venzuela who wanted the third tank to be 2000 litres instead of my 1500 litres, and this tank went under the master cabin bed but the bed was like 7 foot wide and looked a biit rubbish imho. Pictures below...

Are those sight gauges, in the middle of the above pic?

Yup, a pair of sight gauges with isolator valves, twin Racors hot-swappable with restriction gauges that have mechanical "max restriction reached" needles, electronic water-in-fuel indicators, all swaged piping of course, seawater return fuel coolers, and a network of valves so you can isolate a tank and draw/return from any tank etc. Might as well do it right :D
 
Are you sure to be able to select from which tank each engine (either mains or gensets) draws fuel, and to which tank return it, all independently?
That's how M2 system works, if I understood correctly what jfm said.
And I'm pretty sure to have seen a 72' Ferretti where this wasn't possible, and it didn't have a fuel transfer pump either!
Then again, it wasn't a very recent boat.
