We've finally decided to take a year out to plod around the Med, probably the Azores or Canary Islands in the winter... We live in Norway, and have three kids, so are planning to buy a boat down there. (Cheaper/easier on the marriage!).

So: what is the best way to go about this? We want a used boat big enough for all of us, which we can sell after a year without too much trouble. We want to avoid a dud...

PS this is all SWMBO's idea, so sadly I have no choice!

Have a look at "Buying a boat" up above. Gives an idea of the market.

Be careful though. You may want to carry on the life style....

The Med is a good market for boats. depends on the budget, whether you want it new or used. There is also possibility for financing (i.e. "French Lease"). A boat I'd buy is a Gran Soleil from Cantieri del Pardo in Italy: design and seaworthiness in an excellent blend.

Thanks to both. Looking at around 40ft at the moment, new enough to be reliable but not too shiny.( the kids'll take off the shine anyway and we will "probably" sell after the year.)
