Blue Angel (Canados 70s) Rebuild thread

Yep, very accurate indeed.
In fact, it makes me wondering if I'm missing some good reason why the annular groove in the deck socket seems to interrupt the centerline...?
Yup, that's a bodge. I did the annular groove in MS Paint after scanning the sketch as a jog because I didn't like the hand drawn annular groove, and didn't notice it covered the c/line till too late :-)

Ah, but there is one line in the drawing which should not be there? ;-)
Yup Rob. The screwdriver slot is a bodge :-)

Also I think the curvy bit at the top where the tube is sawn off is technically wrong in a section drawing but I made a poetic licence departure from BS308 because it adds clarity imho in a fag packet sketch :)

Here some extra pics from finished jobs
some were finished in Rome, And some we did last weekend in Toulon.

New sunbrella on the bow cushions

This is a detail of the new scanstrud radar pole on top of the radar arch

Have you noticed this detail, the curved solid teak on the gate door capping

This was MapisM suggestion, a connection for the water hose, so that our water distribution has real fresh and drinkable water, we can make coffee with water from the tap

i-Q3Qkkfc-L.jpg

But we added a pression stabilizer and a one way valve

i-NVVprFR-L.jpg

This one is for sure a solution for Deleted User, a second power connection,
Very handy here in Toulon, power con’s are only 10 amps each.

Remote control for the Victron Invertor / charger,
With a shore current limit set at 10 amps !!! (has been very usefull this weekend)

We finished the curtains for the new extra copilot bed (courtesy to jfm)

And in order to avoid the wakeup of the complete Toulon Marina,
we replaced the old retrofitted cheapy and noisy toilet on deck level
with a real tecma

we have been testing all kinds of Quick led lights, some are good, some are bad, will report on that later

Can I apply for a OB rating now ?
Or is the boat and her captain too old for that

we have modified the old existing cockpit covers;

new and a lot more windows,
(there were only 3 small ones, and they were milky and yellow)

also new zippers and a good cleaning,

appeared to be very usefull last weekend;

i-2dJ4QWT-L.jpg

Q.

would like to leave the cockpit covers "on" during long unused periods,
but I'm afraid that wind will damage these covers.
so I'm looking for a nice and clean, but reliable fixing system
to fix the lower edges of the covers on the hull,

its obvious that it needs to be easy fittable / detacheable !

idea's are welcome, thanks !

Love it BartW. A proper transformational refit. Looking forward to next MBY article

I too like the grey sunbrella. Might do same myself on next boat

[NerdAlert] Is that the new soft-close lid on your tecma loo there? Is it any good? [/NerdAlert]

Really nice job bart. BA looks $millions.

Rafiki uses a series of bungy attachments to fix and tension her rear canopy. Sorry, don't have any pics handy. This appears very wind and weather resistant.

Yeah but can you sum them together to power aircon?

All looking really fantastic Bart, BA is a different boat now and is ready for some serious fun in loads more comfort. I can feel the draw to the western med this summer just to raft up and take a closer look.

Congrats Bart, the work looks amazing and it really is 'your' boat! When I had smaller boats (25ft) I used to spend a lot of time personalising it, and it paid off.

The one negative about my new boat is that it's very impersonal - I will need to change this!!

Yeah but can you sum them together to power aircon?

no need to if you have a Victron (multiplus), that can give extra power from the battery's needed to start up the airco el motor.

or even simpler, fit a soft start on the airco motor.

but in any case, you would need the two connectors

Thats something I'm going to look at in the next few weeks as I know the Victron dealer in Croatia

when you need more info, or a checkup on the Croat offer, don't hesitate to mail / call,
we have a lot of experience with Victrons in my business.
OK many thanks for that. I'll send you any offer I receive for comment

Bart &/or MM, care to explain how that works? I vaguely remember somewhere MM saying something about it and how you cannot flood and sink your boat using this system but I've lost it.

Many congrats BART, BA is almost perfect!
Don't think I can make it this year, but definitely next one I'll be visiting SOF to check a few boats ;)

cheers

V.
