Bio fuel here

Bio-diesel - if you want to break down/destroy your engine/clog your filters run on bio-diesel - yet another 'environmentally friendly way to ruin your day/month/year. Alongside LPG there is no better way to cause problems! I work in the motor trade and we have no end of issues with these 'alternative' fuels. The clue is in the word 'alternative' - your engine was never designed to run on this stuff! I see cars run on bio-fuel with fuel filters that look like the scrapings out of an old chip pan! I have seen cars run on LPG with no compression because the fuel is too clean - the bores canna take any more cap'n. Seriously - I have no axe to grind but most people in the business would avoid these fuels - sorry. The attraction is there but the risk is HUGE. if you can't afford to give your baby the proper food it was designed for - don't have a baby.

If you are dealing with good engines & properly produced fuel then there should be few problems, trouble is there are too many idiots out there trying to use poor quality fuel in already knackered engines. Also the possible savings are not really worth the bother. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

There seems to be two options to me. Either pay full price at the pump, or carry fuel to the boat. If your going to carry fuel to the boat, it might as well be good old fashioned red. Bought from some where inland, where boats are not an issue.

Boats needing 5 or ten gallons, wont be an issue either. Carrying ten gallons to the boat, no problem. Buying it at the pump, not a huge cost.

The problems are only for folk like me. Cart 100/200 gallons from home, 300 miles away, then sneek it dont a pontoon, half a mile long and into the boat. Now thatws going to take some inginuity, whether it be red or bio.

Why not buy an old dinghy and trailer fit some extra tanks inside it. The tow it to the boat, launch it and float it to the boat. It could have a small diesel engine to make things look kosher.

Just one other slight concideration. Theres a customs boat, about a 100ft long with a big gun on the front. Parked about 50 yards away. If I ram a potato down the barrel, will that shut it up. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
