We will be heading West next year. Any advice on which pilot book(s) to buy for Mediterranean Spain and Balearics? (North African coast (Tunisia and Morocco) might be handy too.)

The Imray Islas Balearas is very good and quite accurate

The Cruising Association Captains Mate Ap which gives user generated reviews and tips was a god send when the pilots failed or were out of date (as they can be very quickly with regard to buoys in anchorages etc) - definitely worth the price of membership (especially as you get some pretty valuable discounts on berthing in the Med too)

Joining the CA will give you access to the CA navigation stuff - Captains mate is the online iPad/Android pilot which is giving up to the minute updates on ports and anchorages and it largely replaces my use of Pilots - I wont be updating any of them - just supplementing them with the info from Captains mate.

The problem with many on line stuff is that you need a connection, however with Captains Mate, you download the data so you dont need to be on line. However the next time you are on line you can update with the latest data

I pay for my CA membership sub by the mooring discounts available alone - so well worth joining even if you are too far away from London to make use of the Clubhouse.

>Sadly Rod doesn't do any current pilot books for Spain or the Balearics. Not sure he ever did.
