I am interested in a 30ft Bayliner but although I like the boat, it has a sea toilet but no holding tank. Previous owner used to use a portaloo but has now fitted a sea toilet. My options seem to be use a portaloo (but i do want to take the boat to sea) buy another boat.
Fitting a holding tank may be an expensive option but the boat has limited space.
Any suggestions and is this standard for bayliners to have sea toilets with no holding tanks?

Re: sealine toilet

Are you planning to be in places where holding tanks are obligatory?

You've lost me, Is the boat a Sealine or a Bayliner (And yes I know Bayliner own Sealine) If its a Cierra 3055, holding tank is easy to fit as long as you have multi-jointed arms, legs and neck. Tanks are standard size from Lee sanitation and all in will cost about a Grand. But why bother? theres got to be 30 of these boats for sale on Windermere all have holding tanks and most have only run in fresh water.

How on earth did you manage to spend a grand? I had a tank (150 litres) custom-made to fit the odd shaped space available for £123. The Jabsco manual toilet was £80 from one of the discount boys. Hoses. clips. elbows. bends , deck pump-out fittings etc came to £65 and an electronic tank level indicator was another £80. I added a manual pump to enable the tank to be dumped at sea (rather than a direct discharge) Total for a comprehensive and most satisfactory system was less than £400. All invoices to prove!!

Re: general sea toilets

call me thick, but i've only ever used a toilet on a ferry (and i don't remember much about that!).

my new (old) boat has a toilet in a room, and has a handle type thing on the side, does the poo go into the sea? or will there be a tank hidden somewhere on the boat?
