I have a tracvision 2 satelite system on the boat and in October they moved the satelite position which requires a re programming of the set box.
Well c a class were good enough to send me a how to do it, which I now seem to have messed up because I did not know if I had to change the vertical high and vertical low data. Looks like I have changed both and now only receive bbc channels.

So I just wondered if anyone else has had a go at doing this and can give me some advise, especially what the vertical and horizontal high settings should be as I now have lost the original.

Wife is also on the boat and not impressed

A friend of mine had this same problem. We paid for the agent to come out and set it up as it required the laptop plugging into the tracvision box, £150 lighter and a few months on its all gone wrong again.
I know its not tracvision problem they keep moving the satellites but surely there must be some easier way to set up the dish to track the sats when they move them. Personally I would not have the patience with the system after spending that kind of money to watch tv for it to need updating so frequently.

As already said its becoming a big problem, you can with the right equipment do this yourself, I'm finding it best now to use a freesat box and not one of sky's

I have got mine working. There was a change from the original instructions that C A C sent out. Let me go and get all the details and post them.

Replace the 10979 frequency as your V,L with one of the following frequencies in its place and it should bring back the missing channels. 10818 or 10788. (the other parameters in the V,L string on the technical bulletin remain as written)

The bulletin: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/14012668/KVH M5 Frequencies update.pdf

I will stay online if you are going to do it now to answer any questions.

Hi
I had exactly the same problem on my Squadron, these guys were fantastic, http://www.bestserviceeurope.co.uk/site/
They asked if I was capable of plugging a simple 9 pin din cable into the tracvision box and into a laptop and also get online, got a cable of ebay for a couple of pounds and plugged it in, you have to download a free of charge program onto your laptop which allows a engineer to talk to the trackvision through your laptop from his workshop, it was dead easy for me, they reprogrammed mine in about 15 mins remotely through my laptop and charged £70, worked great ever since and very impressed with the service.

Hi,
Thanks for information. Didn't reply last night as I had to take my wife out for a meal so she would not realise that I had not fixed the tv.
Will have a go this am but for some of the posts I can say that this alteration can be done for free and is shown in the manual but don't be an idiot like me that did not write down what it was before only to find I changed the wrong one. Now my vl high is wrong.

Andrew,
Great news. I put in 10818 and success I can get all channels apart from sky news.

What is 10788? When would I use that?

Anyway great result and thanks so much for all your help

This is the power of the forum at its 'simples' best. Tough question to answer if you're not into Sat systems and comms. Personally, I don't have a trac vision system as I hardly watch the TV on the boat now. Still, I can imagine the frustration if you do and the addresses can change with little or no notice.

The reason I posted the link is because in this modern world of GUIs', icons and windows, the PC fix requires MS Dos type programme and a manual setting of an RS232 interface to speed, parity and word length etc. So day to day in the 80s' but disappeared mostly through, 'plug & play'.

Anyway, this was a good thread and informative to anyone that bothered to follow it.

Well done Admill.
Thanks for posting. :)

Thanks for update.
I am now back with tv on the boat when required.

For anyone thats interested I did talk with C A clase today and was informed that there will be another chnage in about 2 weeks time due to satelite movements. So we may have to do all this again! but at least I will know next time to leave the High vertical alone!!!
