Thats a good idea, I'm halfway through making one with a cheap 2nd hand fishing rod - but an antenna will probably be stronger.

You have given me a vunderbar idea. I am always nervous going thru' two particular bridges on the non-tidal Thames, a lousy 1 - 1½" is all I have to spare and as anyone knows even the non-tidal Thames can vary in height.
I have a spare Loran 9' aerial which I am gonna mount on my bow... if that goes under so do I, if not then its hard astern.
