Anybody changed the battery in a NASA wirelss wind masthead unit? I have all the symptons of a failed battery after I dont know how many years up there. Several google searches and an email to NASA have failed to source a replacement and I'd like to have one in hand before someone shins up the mast or I hire a cherry picker. However if I need to rebuild the battery I'm fairly handy with a soldering iron.

Ring Nasa. They’re really helpful and you’ll get put through to someone that really knows the product inside out

Don't know about NASA but we have a similar anemometer on a post near our club. It has a solar panel charging a very high capacity electrolytic capacitor like one of these Super Capacitors - Altronics with a CR123 lithium battery as a back up.
We have replaced the capacitor once and the battery a few times. I can not imagine you can fix the sender in situ and will require 2 trips up the mast. ol'will
