Much has been said (in YM and forums) about the seemingly high prices being asked for used boats; in particular the prices asked by brokers.
Some years ago I knew a canny fellow who rapidly changed from a modestly priced 21ft craft to something over 30ft without adding many quids to the pot.
He did this by buying low (privately of course) and immediately hiking the price and putting the boat on brokerage.
He changed boats often, but never lost on a deal, and as a spin off saved a lot on winter storage.
This is why I never take brokerage prices too seriously and sometimes feel that private sellers who are guided by brokers prices may wait a long, long tiume to sell their boat.
How many of the boats we now see on brokerage are on behalf of owners doing exactly the same?
