Assuming we will have greater freedom and for planning purposes later in the year (assuming of course no lock-down number 2), are all marinas in the UK now operational for visiting yachts ?

ITYWF marinas in England are largely not allowing overnight visitors (even their own bertholders on their own boats). The rest of the UK hasn't "relaxed" lockdown in the same way as England has. So "no".

There isn't a general answer, anyway - marinas (except for a few larger chains) are mostly independent and set their own rules. But as a general rule, it's no sleeping on the boat overnight (except for resident liveaboards) and no visiting yachts. Day sailing out and back from the same marina is OK.

Obviously, a yacht arriving in distress won't be refused, but it better had be in distress!

Thanks all. Any thoughts or musings on whether this is likely to change on Boris’s June/July 1st dates ??

I have been advised that the marina is in communication with DEFRA and the Marinas Minister whoever that might be, and take advice from them.
We will probably be lumped in with second homes and caravan parks for overnight stays, I await developments with interest.

Let's hope not. Maybe we can have rules that reflect risk factors (which are to do with social contact, especially if prolonged and indoors) which aren't necessarily a feature of boating, overnight boating, marinas or indeed caravan parks.

Island Ha rbour in Cowes/Newport is closed to visitors but open to berth holders going out for a daysail, tides permitting. staff partially back, lock openings by prior appointment only and none this Sunday 17/5. Very few berth holders seen today and none except us liveaboards overnighting. did see one group of 3 men arrive and work on their boat yesterday but apparently did not stay but returned home, not on the island, wherever that home is later same day

Sorry Vyv, but IMHO this part of the discussion is better suited to the Lounge. (I could make remarks about the lunatics running the Westminister asylum ? )
That wasn’t Vyv it was me!
My family is still locked down in Wales. My BiL is desperate to get to the water.
The virus Doesn’t recognise borders so it’s a stupid thing to devolve.
(my view that it’s costly and pointless to devolve anything is for the lounge)
