Can't see the first shot coz our bally stupid IT department says
Access Denied (content_filter_denied) Your request was denied because of its content categorization: "Personal Network Storage and Backup;Bandwidth" Don't you hate the nerds? (I'm offshore China)
Anyway before I go into a 2 page rant the 2nd shot's Tobermory methinks.
Ah, Ha! Same bally denial... the IT barstewards also deny access to ' Alcohol, tobacco, entertainment and lifestyle' which is pretty rich coming from a Dutch company... mind you the Chinese still find porn.
'Twas akshually taken in the Sound of Kerrera, a couple of miles south of Oban, at a time when Webcraft, Jimi, Silkie and probably a good few others were still gazing at the insides of their eyelids, at the end of the 'Chentleman's Cruise 08'.
'Avilion' was away before the Tannoy announcement to the 3 early passengers and a dog for the CalMac 'Isle of Mull' ferry woke up most of Oban at 0650, and the rest were startled out of their wits and bunks as the 'single, prolonged blast of approx. 5 seconds duration' woke the rest of the town - and much of the hinterland of Argyll - in the dense early mist, bang on the dot of 0700hrs.
Then there was the quaint VHF Ch16 broadcast to All Ships that the ponderous great choochter ferry was heading 'Outbound via the North Channel', which was followed within a microsecond, it seemed, by a terse 25W reply from 'Fair Winds' that two yachts were already IN the North Channel leaving Oban Bay and would said 'muckle great lump kindly keep a bloody good lookout this morning'......
'Safe Speed' ( Rule 6 ), in the prevailing conditions of dense sea fog at Oban, was about 17 knots.....
