any idea of boat type

Dayton's quote a Girl Pat 35 and 55. In the mid 60's there was a Girl Pat 35 kept on the River Ancholme at South Ferriby. I always thought it was a pretty boat.

Girl Pat boats originated with converted MFV's. The original was a Miller Fifer (I think) whose crew went awol with the boat and ended up in the Carribean. There they were eventually arrested and brought back to blighty for prosecution.
But not before the skipper's tale was serialised in The People, which caught the imagination of the public. Girl Pat proved small fishing boats were efficient long distance voyagers, so people began converting small MFV's, then building them new.
I think the skipper's name was Osbourne. A google might turn up more.

Looked it up, Girl Pats were built by Morris of Gosport from 1935, I'm looking at a 1946 MB&Y, has a Girl Pat with non rounded stern, and the advert says "standard models 20ft to 55ft"

Fanfare is noted in a Lloyds Register as being by Morris's, buit 1946, and there's a two page article in the March 1946 MB&Y which looks as though it is Fanfare, with section/sailplan/GA plan all shown in detail.

The style of stern was used on wooden hulled Scottish fishing vessels (and no doubt others) and were known as 'cruiser sterns' if my memory is correct.

Looks typically GL Watson designed wheelhouse to me.

Very pretty all the same.
