Anchor size for small dayboat on Solent?

What Size Anchor Do I Need? | Knowledge Centre

I have a folding type for my dinghy and not impressed with it. It only seemed to work after I had buried it !
Thanks, as a flappie sailie boater I started at Jimmy Green marine but they didn't give anythong for grapnell types (perhaps telling, and I am a Rocna fan for big boat, but stowage an issue here).
What do folks use on RIBs for example?

Id probably go with a danforth style anchor for a small boat, due to the fact that its mostly flat when packed away so shouldnt take up too much space.

Force 4 Danforth Style Anchor | Force 4 Chandlery

with a length of chain - maybe 3-5m, then rope for the remainder.

those folding grapnel anchors ,whilst they do go very small and light when folded up, I have found them not brilliant for holding.

I'd suggest a 4kg Delta. I use that in a 4.5m RIB. Great holding power, and easy enough to handle. 3m of s/s chain, then rope. Mine is painted in bright orange gloss paint to make it nicer to handle and easily seen by swimmers at the beach.

Ultimate solution if you don't mind the cost would be a 5kg Ultra anchor.

Folding grapnel anchors don't hold well

That's exactly what we use on our 7.4m rib with 4m of chain and then rope,. Always holds well and stows in the bow locker easily.

We’ve got a claw type anchor onboard that so far has been solid as a rock. Annoyingly it’s just the wrong shape for the minimal anchor locker so have been considering a folding type too.
